Q: How would you like us to cite our sources for HW1 being that the entire essay is a summery of the steps to ending the writing crisis. Would it be appropriate to site the entire essay as oppose to citing each paraphrased sentence which could take up the entire document?

A: A single citation is sufficient if you place it in a good spot. I know your source. You do not have to 'cite' it officially. Example: "Bob Jones says we should do these things: {List the things Bob Jones says}."

Q: The lab manual is not at the WERC copy center. When will it be ready?

A: We are still looking at the schedule. First lab pages will appear on this web site in the Handouts section.

Q: Please answer these questions about Homework #1.

1. Can the essay only be one page long?

2. Is there a particular format that you would like us to follow for this first assignment?

A:

1. Yes. The essay is one page long.

2. The assignment slide states "Use WORD. Set page margins at 1 inch. Use 12 point type that is double spaced. Fill one 8.5 x 11 inch page with your essay."

You do not need headings. Your name appears in the file name; therefore, you do not have to put your name in the essay.

Q: The bookstore is out of Ashby and Jones in the 3rd edition. Can I use the second edition and get a passing grade in this course.

A: I have no idea. I have never seen the second edition. If you use the wrong edition you do so at your risk. If you get the 3rd edition you will have the offical text.

Q: The syllabus states that Pfeiffer's 3rd edition is the official text and the bookstore sells the 4th edition. What edition is correct?

A: The fourth edition is correct.

Q: The lecture 01 PDF file has two due dates for Homework 1. What date is correct?

A: Monday, 3 September 2007. I missed the first note about the homework. I had to delay the assignment because WebCT Vista is not running.
